READY, SET, VOTE: VOCAL ACTION FUND ANNOUNCES 2026 ROCHESTER AND ITHACA ENDORSED CANDIDATE SLATE
NEW YORK — Today, the VOCAL Action Fund is proud to announce our slate of upstate and Western New York candidates for the upcoming 2026 elections. The VOCAL Action Fund endorses the following candidates:
- Anna Kelles – Assembly District 125
- Demond Meeks – Assembly District 137
- Rachel May – Senate District 48
“My community is my family. My voice and my vote during the VOCAL Action Fund selection period were grounded in champions who believe in community first. People with power should know who they are responsible to and accountable for,” said Majid Dunson, upstate VOCAL Action Fund field ambassador.
“Within the VOCAL Action Fund, our politics are not grounded in politicians or those with political aspirations – but in the work, delivery, attitude, and beliefs of people who will fight for our communities. We have a closed interview process and although many have sought to apply, only a chosen few met the political criteria of the VOCAL Action Fund leaders. We’re bringing souls to the polls for our champions,” said Kim Smith, VOCAL Action Fund Political Director.
BACKGROUND:
The VOCAL Action Fund reviewed 2026 platforms and carefully evaluated the politics of each candidate. Candidates were vetted based on their commitment to real solutions and a politics grounded in justice, equity, and compassion. Those listed have proved their commitment to making progress towards ending homelessness, HIV, mass incarceration, and the failed drug war received an endorsement from directly-impacted VOCAL Action Fund leaders.
